World Whiskey Society Wyatt Earp 13 Year Hazmat American Whiskey Review.

World Whiskey Society Wyatt Earp 13 Year Hazmat American Whiskey Review.

I received this spirit as a review sample from the World Whiskey Society, linked here. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.

World Whiskey Society is making quite a name for themselves for seeking out barrels from across the U.S. and beyond. Their approach often includes cask-strength releases, unique barrel finishes, and thoughtful proofing point. For this bourbon, they’ve wisely left it uncut. This is part of their Doc Holliday collection. In homage to Wyatt Earp from the old west. Up to this point, I've had a sample of their Wyatt Single Malt and their cask strength offerings and both are right up there in some of my favorite releases from World Whiskey Society.

This sample is a first for me on a few different fronts. First, the mash bill uses all malted elements! I cannot for the life of me think of a spirit using malted wheat. Second is the age statement. With a 13 year old age statement, you are commanding attention. Last, that proof point. Not only is this the highest ABV I've ever had, but my first "hazmat" bottlings. All three of these points really sets up for a great deep dive and I hope it holds up to the expectations that it is setting up!

Age Statement: 13 years.

ABV: 82.34%

Mash bill: 73% Malted Barley, 14.9% Malted Rye, and 12.1% Malted Wheat.

Area of Distillation: N/A.

Appearance: Deep, dark mahogany.

On the nose:
The aroma is immediately captivating—burnt sugars and caramelized crème brûlée crust blend with dark fruits like plum and fig. There's an earthy undertone reminiscent of overproof rum, balanced by spicy notes of cinnamon, clove, and cracked black pepper. Despite its towering ABV, there’s no harshness—just a warm, enveloping richness with layers of oaky depth and velvety sweetness.

Taste:
The aroma hits with remarkable depth—burnt sugars and caramelized crème brûlée crust mingle with dark fruits like plum and fig. There’s an earthy undertone reminiscent of aged overproof rum, complemented by warm spices: cinnamon sticks, cloves, and freshly cracked black pepper. Surprisingly, despite its extreme proof, there’s no harsh alcohol sting—just a deep warmth and rich oakiness from its 13 years of aging.

Finish:
The finish is profound and seemingly endless. Smoky barrel char emerges, evoking the sensation of licking the inside of a well-seasoned oak cask. Dark fruits continue to shine, blending with campfire-like smokiness and lingering earthy tones. The whiskey’s oily, velvety mouthfeel leaves a lasting impression, creating a harmonious balance of sweetness, spice, and charred oak complexity.

Final Thoughts:
The World Whiskey Society’s Wyatt Earp American Whiskey is an unforgettable experience—a bold, daring, and masterfully crafted expression that redefines what American whiskey can be. Its towering ABV is balanced by a symphony of dark fruit sweetness, rich vanilla, smoky barrel char, and deep earthy complexity. Each sip is an evolving narrative of intensity and refinement. Given its unique mash bill, and nearly unmatched flavor complexity, it’s well worth considering for whiskey explorers.

Rating: A+ (Perfection).

Cost: $249.99 for 750ml.
