Fior Blended Scotch Whisky Review.

 Fior Blended Scotch Whisky Review.

I received this spirit as a review sample from Fior Whisky, linked here. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.

Fior Blended Scotch immediately stood out with its striking presentation, but what truly captivated me was the story behind the bottle. Founded by Eric Dominijanni, a Marine Veteran with over two decades of service, Fior was born from his passion project, an infinity bottle that captured a perfect blend he could never quite replicate again. Rather than let that final sip be the end, he worked with industry friends to bring Fior to life, making it the first Black veteran-owned Scotch whisky brand. That’s a compelling origin with authenticity and heart.

Fior is a blend of Highland and Speyside Scotch whiskies, bottled at 43% ABV. The team took a deliberate approach to blending, focusing on a 60/40 malt-to-grain ratio. The casks were hand-selected to recreate the character of Dominetti’s original infinity bottle, which makes this more than just another blended Scotch—it’s a tribute to a personal journey and palate.

Age Statement: N/A.

ABV: 43%.

Mash bill: Highland and Speyside Scotch whiskies (40%/60% malt & grain whiskey).

Area of Distillation: Scotland.

Appearance: Golden Honey.

On the nose:
This opens with a bold malty character, layered with sweet orchard fruits—green and red apples—alongside graham cracker and barley. A sweet cream vanilla tone follows, touched by a whisper of Highland-style smoke. Caramel and charred oak add depth, along with a light black pepper kick and a gentle earthy undertone. It's complex, but remains soft and approachable.

Taste:
It drinks with an ease that belies its proof. The first sip delivers immediate fruit sweetness, followed by chocolatey richness—think melted milk chocolate or even chocolate stroopwafel next to a warm cup of coffee. The maltiness stays front and center, balanced by barrel spice, wood sugars, and a honeyed sweetness that keeps things bright. A faint waxiness and subtle earthiness round out the mouthfeel, while the smoke gently lingers, more of a campfire wisp than a peat-driven blaze.

Finish:
Lingering with red apple skins, honey, and a touch of cracked black pepper. The smoke remains subtle throughout, letting the fruit and malt character shine. It never becomes overwhelming, which makes this blend easy to return to again and again. It’s cohesive and confident, ending with a touch of Highland charriness and a mellow fade.

Final Thoughts:
Fior is a heartfelt success. It blends the accessibility of a casual sipper with the nuance of a well-constructed whisky. It punches above its weight, offering genuine character and story without sacrificing drinkability. It’s a fantastic introduction to Scotch for newcomers and an enjoyable change of pace for experienced drinkers. Whether you're sharing it with friends or enjoying a quiet evening pour, Fior feels right at home.
