Filmland Spirits Quadraforce Straight Bourbon Review.

Image
Filmland Spirits continues to lean hard into storytelling, and Quadraforce might be their most ambitious concept yet. Built around a comic-book-style origin story of four characters gaining powers during World War II, this bottle blends creativity with whiskey in a way that immediately stands out on the shelf. Beyond the eye-catching 1950s monster-movie poster aesthetic, there’s real substance here.       A four-part blend of bourbons sourced from across the U.S., Quadraforce mixes transparency with a bit of mystery, and honestly, that balance makes it even more fun to dive into. All whiskeys are at least four years old. Filmland sources barrels from multiple regions, including California, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with the possibility of additional sourcing from elsewhere. Rather than over-explaining the mystery, they let the blend speak for itself, which works in its favor. For the full video review visit the link here:  https://youtu.be/0dgCcerNN1...

Backbone Bourbon Company American Single Malt Review.

Image
There are certain releases that instantly grab your attention, and this Backbone Bourbon Company single barrel American single malt was one of them. As soon as news broke about a hazmat-level American single malt with an extremely limited yield, I knew I had to try to get my hands on one. Backbone has earned my trust over the years through transparency, thoughtful sourcing, and some genuinely standout single barrels, so this bottle already had a lot going for it before the cork was ever pulled.      This particular barrel was selected by T8ke, a well-known figure in the whiskey community and the mind behind the r/bourbon community. After tasting through several options at Backbone, this was the barrel he couldn’t walk away from. With a final yield of just 68 bottles, it was never going to be an easy find. When I got the chance to purchase one, there was no hesitation. For the full video review visit the link here:  https://youtu.be/HFEgS_q-STU . A...

World Whiskey Society Ducks Unlimited American Single Malt Whiskey Review.

Image
I received this spirit as a review sample from the World Whiskey Society, linked here . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Let's just pull off the bandaid real quick here, I LOVE decanter style bottles. The more unique the better. It reminds me of how we use to have decanter bottles more often back in the day. Now a days we associate a "fancy bottle" with bad spirits. And while that happens (probability) more times than not, I'll still appreciate the look.       This release from the World Whiskey Society immediately stands out, and not just because of what’s in the glass. Their partnership with Ducks Unlimited brings a bold, eye-catching decanter shaped like a shotgun shell that feels more like a collector’s piece than a standard bottle. Flashy? Absolutely. But as always, the real question is whether the whiskey inside can live up to the presentation.      World Whiskey Society has built ...

Black Market Spirits Single Barrel 3 Year Rye Whiskey Review.

Image
Black Market Spirits Cask Strength 3 Year Rye Whiskey Review.      I received this spirit as a review sample from Black Market Spirits. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.           Black Market Spirits, based out of California, has been quietly building an interesting portfolio. From gin and vodka to even a hemp spirit, they clearly enjoy pushing creative boundaries. But they’re also doing something equally important: sourcing quality whiskey from established Kentucky distilleries. In this case, they went to one of the oldest distilleries in the state, Green River. Everything I’ve had from Green River has been solid, so expectations were already high going in.      Black Market keeps things transparent, mash bill disclosed, sourcing, single barrel clearly labeled. That kind of honesty earns respect immediately. For the full video review visit the link here:  https://youtu.be/6wfegSc1...

Black Market Spirits Black Market 5 Year Rye Review.

Black Market Spirits Black Market 5 Year Rye Review.           I received this spirit as a review sample from Black Market Spirits. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.      Black Market Spirits continues to carve out an interesting lane in the whiskey world. Based out of California, they’ve been experimenting across multiple spirit categories, but for this release they’ve sourced rye from one of Kentucky’s most respected distilleries: Green River. Knowing Green River’s recent track record with rye whiskey, expectations were already high.           About a year ago, I reviewed their three-year rye and walked away impressed. Now, with two additional years of age, this five-year expression feels like a natural evolution. The question is simple: does the extra time in barrel elevate the profile?
