 Quintaliza Reposado Tequila Review.

Quintaliza Reposado Tequila

Some bottles grab your attention because of the label. Others do it because of the story. Quinta Repr Tequila pulled me in instantly because of the process, and if you know me at all, you know coffee is part of my daily ritual. Quintaliza is still a relatively new name on U.S. shelves, but they are already making noise by doing something genuinely different in the tequila space. This isn’t novelty for novelty’s sake. It’s a thoughtful finishing process that actually respects the spirit underneath.

Quintaliza starts with tequila, naturally fermented for three days and double distilled. From there, the tequila spends about two months resting in ex-bourbon barrels. That alone would be a solid foundation for a reposado-style profile. Where things get interesting is the finishing stage. They take speciality barrels seasoned with Mexican cold brew coffee for about three months. No coffee is steeped into the tequila itself. Instead, the coffee grounds rest in the barrels to season the wood.

On top of that, this tequila is certified organic and 100 percent additive free, which Quintaliza is proud to showcase. Transparency like that matters, especially in today’s tequila market.

Age Statement: 5 months (2 months in ex-bourbon barrels).

ABV: 40%.

Mash bill: 100% organic agave.

Area of Distillation: NOM 1522.

Finishing: 3 months in specialized barrels seasoned with artisanal coffee.

Appearance: Toasted amber.

On the nose:
Right away, sweet blue agave leads the charge. There’s a clear ex-bourbon influence with soft vanilla, a touch of caramel, and gentle oak spice. The agave remains front and center, bringing earthy sweetness and a light salinity. The coffee influence is subtle on the nose, leaning more toward an earthy, lightly chocolatey impression rather than overt espresso.

Taste:
This is where everything clicks. The sip opens with bright blue agave sweetness before unfolding into roasted espresso bean notes and a soft milk chocolate character. It feels like stepping into a small-town coffee shop where fresh roasts are happening behind the counter. There’s a gentle spice, a wisp of char, and just enough vanilla to round things out without overshadowing the tequila itself.

The coffee finish is impactful but controlled. It enhances the spirit rather than taking it over, letting both the agave and barrel influence coexist beautifully.

Finish:
The finish is soft, balanced, and lingering. Light chocolate, earthy agave, a hint of salt, and a subtle char carry through without becoming heavy. Nothing feels rushed or overdone. The barrel time was dialed in just right, allowing the coffee seasoning to shine without overwhelming the tequila’s core identity.

Final Thoughts:
Quintaliza Reposado Tequila is one of the most thoughtfully executed finished tequilas I’ve had. The coffee barrel influence adds depth and character while still honoring the agave-forward profile. It feels equally approachable for bourbon drinkers curious about tequila and tequila fans looking for something genuinely unique. This is a bottle that proves experimentation can be done with restraint and respect for the spirit.

Rating: A (Excellent).
