3 Sisters Rum Co. Strawberry Vanilla Infused Rum Review.
I received this spirit as a review sample from 3 Sisters Rum, linked here. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.
Three Sisters Rum, is an American craft distillery based in Pennsylvania. American rum often flies under the radar, and seeing a small distillery take on the challenge with such confidence is refreshing. Their process leans heavily into traditional Caribbean methods, utilizing a copper pot still to capture rich, flavorful profiles. The "mash bill" features organic sugar cane with a touch of molasses. On top of that their Rums are gluten-free, vegan, and even kosher. Personally, I love seeing transparency and their authenticity stands out.
When Summertime starts to come up, I tend to like sweeter offerings. When done right, flavored spirits can be not only a great thing to enjoy but also work great in a cocktail. The great thing 3 Sisters Rum is doing a bit different is the fact they are adding the natural flavor during distillation NOT afterwards. This allows the infusion of flavors to marry together VS just being an additive. Now Strawberry is not my first "go to" flavor when it comes to spirits or even candy. However, I love trying unique and different spirits and very curious on how Three Sisters Rum can create a rum like this.
Age Statement: Unaged.
ABV: 40%.

On the nose:
On the nose:
The aroma hits with that nostalgic sweetness that brings to mind those mysterious little strawberry hard candies, the ones that seem to appear out of thin air. It’s fresh and fruity without being artificial. Behind the berry sweetness is a layer of earthy funk from the pot still, giving it a rustic edge and a solid sense of rum character. A delicate vanilla note comes through like strawberry buttercream frosting on a vanilla cupcake, sweet, but balanced and grounded.
Taste:
The flavor matches the nose with striking accuracy. Sweet strawberry leads the charge, but again, it avoids being cloying or syrupy. The texture is soft with a bit of oiliness, evidence of the pot still’s influence. Earthy sugarcane notes surface in the background, lending depth and keeping things from tipping too far into dessert territory. The vanilla doesn’t overwhelm but rounds out the experience nicely, giving that buttercream-cupcake quality some extra richness. It's clearly a flavored rum, but never feels cheap or artificial.
Finish:
Smooth and medium in length, the finish keeps the Strawberry front and center, but it’s that faint pot-still funk that leaves the final impression. When served over ice, the rum takes on a different dimension, the strawberry fades slightly while the base rum comes forward, allowing the earthy, funky notes to shine more prominently. That versatility bodes well for cocktail use.
On Ice:
After a short rest over ice, the rum takes on a slightly different profile. The vibrant strawberry note softens, allowing more of the base rum to come through. That earthy, funky Caribbean pot still character begins to dominate in the best way, especially for those who enjoy a more traditional rum backbone. It’s still sweet, but more grounded. Visually, it remains gorgeous in the glass, and it sips effortlessly with a chilled elegance. For easy summer enjoyment, simply pouring it over ice works beautifully. Still, where this rum will really shine is in cocktails, it has the flavor intensity and ABV to hold its own without being watered down.
Final Thoughts:
A thoughtfully crafted, naturally flavored rum with enough body and structure to be sipped neat or used in cocktails. It's not a rum for purists seeking molasses-heavy, oak-aged depth, but it's not pretending to be. It’s playful, summery, and designed for enjoyment. While I personally prefer their peach expression just a touch more, this Strawberry Vanilla holds its own and offers a well-executed twist on what flavored rum can be.
Rating: B- (Fairly good).
Cost: $34.95 for 750ml.
