3 Sisters Rum Co. RumWhite Rum Review.

I received this spirit as a review sample from 3 Sisters Rum, linked here. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.

Three Sisters Rum, is an American craft distillery based in Pennsylvania. Personally, I love seeing transparency and their authenticity stands out. American rum often flies under the radar, and seeing a small distillery take on the challenge with such confidence is refreshing. Their process leans heavily into traditional Caribbean methods, utilizing a copper pot still to capture rich, flavorful profiles. The "mash bill" features organic sugar cane with a touch of molasses. On top of that their Rums are gluten-free, vegan, and even kosher.

Now white rum can be a great spirit to enjoy neat to experience the true form of a rum or as a mixer. For me, I love experiencing an unaged rum to see the profile prior to aging it. Also, a great unaged rum can do wonders in a cocktail and keep the "clarity" in the visual look.

Age Statement: Unaged.

ABV: 45%.

Mash bill: Organic sugar cane with a touch of molasses.

Area of Distillation: Schwenksville, Pennsylvania.

Appearance: Crystal clear.

On the nose:
The aroma leaps from the glass with unmistakable pot still funk. That lively, rustic, Jamaican-style aroma that’s instantly recognizable to seasoned rum lovers. It’s sweet and earthy, with a whisper of sour tang that keeps things interesting. Sugarcane is front and center, supported by dark molasses, a hint of anise, and just enough wildness to make it feel alive.

Taste:
This is a proper pot-stilled rum with confidence. There’s an oily cling and beautiful body, delivering notes of raw sugarcane, molasses, and something akin to demerara sugar. Earthy flavors emerge with a peppery undercurrent, though not the sharpness of black pepper, more like the green, vegetal bite of fresh pepper skins. The presence of star anise continues here, adding a touch of exotic spice without overwhelming the natural sweetness of the cane. Everything is in balance. No harsh ethanol bite, no off-notes, no artificial sweetness. This is rum stripped to its core, expressive and honest.

Finish:
The finish lingers with soft sweetness and a return of that earthy, funky undertone. It's clean and satisfying, leaving behind a subtle warmth and a craving for another sip. Even without barrel aging, there’s depth and structure here that many white rums struggle to achieve. It’s the kind of finish that makes you wonder how incredible the aged version must be.

Final Thoughts:
Three Sisters White Rum is a triumph of craft distillation. It’s expressive, bold, and free of shortcuts, no additives, no gimmicks, just pure distilling artistry. It's a standout American rum that challenges expectations and outperforms most of what you'll find on your local shelves. This is not the bland, sugary rum of college cocktails. This is a rum that would throw Captain Morgan overboard and sail off on its own terms.

Rating: A (Excellent).

Cost: $29.95 for 750ml.
