Three Floyds Dark Lord Straight Malt Whiskey Review.

Image
Three Floyds Dark Lord Straight Malt Whiskey Review.     Three Floyds is a name most folks know for their legendary beer; Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, and, of course, Dark Lord, the Russian Imperial Stout that has become a cult classic. But in recent years, their ambitions have stretched beyond hops and barley into the world of craft spirits. For their 20th anniversary of Dark Lord in 2024, they released something bold: a straight malt whiskey finished in Dark Lord beer barrels. This one carries not just the Three Floyds reputation, but the energy of their beer-fueled legacy.      What’s fun here is the mash bill: barley, wheat, oats, and corn. It’s already unique on paper, but when you layer on finishing time in barrels that once held one of the heaviest stouts around, it creates a collision of grain and beer culture in a bottle. I’d been sitting on this release for far too long, but with a 6-year version just hitting shelves, it seemed like the perfect time...

Four Finger Distillery Frankenstein Whiskey Review.

Four Finger Distillery Frankenstein Whiskey Review. I received this spirit as a review sample from Four Finger Distillery. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review. Four Finger Distillery is a hub of creativity in the Indiana craft spirits. I've had the pleasure of reviewing a few of their other releases prior to this one, and always been a big fan. Now, if you've never heard of Four Finger Distillery, they were once known as 1205 Distillery. The name change was to give them a better identity. The name itself comes from a situation during construction of the distillery. The master distiller lost his pinky finger to a table saw. Since then Brad, the master distiller, has been diving deep into all types of sprites  to create and release. Here’s where thing with Frankenstein Whiskey. It is crafted from the remnants of a local brewery, Flat 12, that sadly had to close its doors. Instead of letting the last batch of their beer fade away, Four Finge...

Five & 20 Spirits Deja-Vu Pale Ale Finished Rye Whiskey Review.

Five & 20 Spirits Deja-Vu Pale Ale Finished Rye Whiskey Review. I received this spirit as a review sample from Five & 20 Spirits linked here . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Now, I've always been up for unique  finishing specially when to comes to craft distilleries. They tend to focus on something different and lets them stand apart from the crowd. Now, Five & 20 Spirits based out of Westfield New York has been one of my contact revisits in reviews. They just seem to know what it takes to represent craft spirits, using local grans, aging, distilling, bottling it themselves, and using in house barrels for finishing.     This offering is quite different than want we will typically see in a finishing. Essentially, they are taking their rye whiskey and finishing in pale ale casks. And not just any pale ale casks, but casks that held Five & 20 brewery ale. This should allow their profile...

Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips, Whiskey Beer Barrel Finished Whiskey Review.

Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips, Whiskey Beer Barrel Finished.      Over the past year I've been picking up so many spirits from Journeyman Distillery. Since they opened a second distillery right in Valparaiso Indiana, they are a short drive away. Honestly, I've really enjoyed so many of their offerings and they are becoming a great definition of what makes craft spirits. The other day I was up having dinner at the distillery (great food and cocktails by the way) and stopped into the gift shop as I normally do. Seeing this instantly caught my eye since I've noticed many distilleries using beer finishing casks. Not sure if that's the new thing or what, but it seems to be many of them coming out. While I've never had any beers from Half Acre Brewing, I figured I will take the dive! For the full video review visit the link here!:  https://youtu.be/033v_I65C70 Age Statement:  N/A. ABV:  54.44% (Cask Strength). Mashbill:  100% Organic Wheat. Area...
