Lasso Motel Tokaji Cask Finished Bourbon Whiskey Review.

Image
I received this spirit as a review sample from Lasso Motel, linked here . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.      Lasso Motel continues to carve out a name for itself with transparency and creative finishing, and this release might be one of their most compelling yet. One thing I consistently appreciate about Lasso Motel is their openness. They clearly state the distillation source and mash bill, which as a whiskey enthusiast is something I always want to see. There’s no mystery here. Just good bourbon and thoughtful finishing.      The base bourbon is distilled in Kentucky at Green River Distillery using a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley. After maturation, it’s finished in Tokaji casks, which previously held the famous Hungarian sweet wine known for its rich fruit character and honeyed depth. Tokaji finishes have been gaining traction lately, and when handled well, they can ad...

Black Market Spirits Single Barrel 3 Year Rye Whiskey Review.

Black Market Spirits Cask Strength 3 Year Rye Whiskey Review.      I received this spirit as a review sample from Black Market Spirits. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.           Black Market Spirits, based out of California, has been quietly building an interesting portfolio. From gin and vodka to even a hemp spirit, they clearly enjoy pushing creative boundaries. But they’re also doing something equally important: sourcing quality whiskey from established Kentucky distilleries. In this case, they went to one of the oldest distilleries in the state, Green River. Everything I’ve had from Green River has been solid, so expectations were already high going in.      Black Market keeps things transparent, mash bill disclosed, sourcing, single barrel clearly labeled. That kind of honesty earns respect immediately. For the full video review visit the link here:  https://youtu.be/6wfegSc1...

Black Market Spirits Black Market 5 Year Rye Review.           I received this spirit as a review sample from Black Market Spirits. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.      Black Market Spirits continues to carve out an interesting lane in the whiskey world. Based out of California, they’ve been experimenting across multiple spirit categories, but for this release they’ve sourced rye from one of Kentucky’s most respected distilleries: Green River. Knowing Green River’s recent track record with rye whiskey, expectations were already high.           About a year ago, I reviewed their three-year rye and walked away impressed. Now, with two additional years of age, this five-year expression feels like a natural evolution. The question is simple: does the extra time in barrel elevate the profile? Green River Distillery Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Review.

Green River Distillery Kentucky Straight Rye   Whiskey Review.     Since Green River has been releasing their own product, i've been a fan. Both their standard bourbon and wheated bourbon are great examples in their class. So hearing their rye was hitting the shelves you could color me interested. Sticking with a classic mash bill seemed like a great path for them. Now i've been fortunate to try Green River rye from a sourced side of things (see Black Market Rye Whiskey) and this really hit the spot for me. However, I am assuming Green River is keeping the "top barrels" for themselves, which gave me very high hopes.  For the full video review visit the link here!:  https://youtu.be/yQiz2l6yIoA Age Statement:  N/A (4-6 years old per company press release). ABV:  47.5%. Mashbill:  95% Rye / 5% Malted Barley. Area of Distillation:  Kentucky. Appearance:  Light Golden. On the nose:       Right off the bat, there...
