World Whiskey Society Astro Extra Anejo Tequila Review.

It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Every now and then, a bottle comes along that stops you in your tracks before you’ve even pulled the cork. That’s exactly what happened with World Whiskey Society’s Astro Extra AƱejo Tequila. For those who follow my reviews, you know this group has been making real waves by sourcing unique barrels from around the world, bottling everything from cask-strength bourbons to distinctive finished whiskies. But this release marks something entirely new for them, it’s their very first tequila. And while the exact casks aren’t disclosed, I would guess they are using ex-bourbon casks as most Tequila does. World Whiskey Society has built a reputation on sourcing unique barrels and pushing boundaries, and this Awamori cask-finished rye might be one of their most adventurous yet. A 12-year MGP rye finished in a rarely seen rice-distillate cask immediately raises eyebrows.
