It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Every now and then, a bottle comes along that stops you in your tracks before you’ve even pulled the cork. That’s exactly what happened with World Whiskey Society’s Astro Extra AƱejo Tequila. For those who follow my reviews, you know this group has been making real waves by sourcing unique barrels from around the world, bottling everything from cask-strength bourbons to distinctive finished whiskies. But this release marks something entirely new for them, it’s their very first tequila. And while the exact casks aren’t disclosed, I would guess they are using ex-bourbon casks as most Tequila does. World Whiskey Society American Light Whiskey Cigar Blend Whiskey Review.

I received this spirit as a review sample from the World Whiskey Society,  linked here . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.      World Whiskey Society isn’t just dabbling anymore, they’re deep in the game. Over the last few years, they’ve become known for tracking down rare barrels, blending and finishing them with finesse, and then releasing bottles that are as stunning to look at as they are to drink. When I saw this one, a 20-year-old American Light Whiskey dubbed their “Cigar Blend” I was instantly intrigued. Multiple finishes, a bold age statement. Count me in.      The “Cigar Blend” name tells you what they’re going for: a whiskey that pairs well with a cigar, meaning bold, sweet, and rich. And while I don’t smoke cigars, I love cigar blends for exactly those reasons, especially in the summer when I want something sweeter without being flavored. I received this spirit as a review sample from the World Whiskey Society, linked here . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Let's just pull off the bandaid real quick here, I LOVE decanter style bottles. The more unique the better. It reminds me of how we use to have decanter bottles more often back in the day. Now a days we associate a "fancy bottle" with bad spirits. And while that happens (probability) more times than not, I'll still appreciate the look. Now this release from the World Whiskey Society is a collaboration project with Ducks Unlimited, hence the shotgun shell bottle.          When it comes to the spirit inside, this is also right up my alley. We have an American single malt, a now official label for the TTB being distilled in Oklahoma. Now while there is no age statement on this release, the other bottlings I've had from this region have already been very solid. For the full video re...
