Journeyman Corsets, Whips, and Honey Whiskey Review.
Journeyman Distillery continues to prove why they’re one of the most exciting craft producers in the Midwest. Corsets, Whips, and Honey is a brand-new, distillery-exclusive release built on their 100% wheat whiskey and infused with real Michigan honey. Originally rooted in Michigan and now expanding into Valparaiso, Indiana, Journeyman handles everything in-house, and that commitment to transparency and local collaboration shows up immediately with this bottle.
This is not a honey-finished whiskey or a flavored gimmick. Real honey from Great Lakes Bee Company is blended directly into Journeyman’s Corsets, Whips, and Wheat whiskey. It’s Michigan through and through, and that local focus adds a lot of character before the glass is even poured.
Age Statement: N/A.
ABV: 35%.
Mash bill: 100% Michigan wheat.
Area of Distillation: Three Oaks, Michigan.
Appearance:
On the nose:
Raw honey jumps out immediately, bold and unapologetic. There’s a distinct clover note that feels earthy and floral, almost like cracking open a fresh honeycomb. Green grass, soft wheat, and a gentle warmth round things out without any sharp alcohol bite. Importantly, nothing smells artificial. This is real honey, not flavoring.
Taste:
Rich, oily, and dangerously drinkable. Sweet toffee and dark honey coat the palate, followed by a warm wheat spice underneath. The standout note is unmistakable: honey stroopwafel. Think warm waffle cookies dipped in coffee, buttery and sweet, with just enough spice to keep it balanced. Despite the sweetness, it never feels juvenile or thin.
Finish:
Smooth, buttery, and lingering. The honey sweetness fades slowly, leaving behind soft wheat spice and a gentle warmth. The slight funk found on the nose disappears here, replaced by a clean, well-balanced close that invites another sip.
Final Thoughts:
Journeyman absolutely nailed this release. Corsets, Whips, and Honey Whiskey avoids every pitfall that honey whiskey can fall into. It’s balanced, authentic, and thoughtfully made, with real honey playing a leading role rather than masking flaws. It’s perfect for sipping, dangerously easy to over-pour, and would shine in lower-proof cocktails built around honey or coffee flavors. If Journeyman keeps this as an ongoing release, it’s one worth revisiting year after year as the honey character evolves.
