West Fork Whsky Co. Frenchy's French Toast Bourbon Whiskey Review.

Image
West Fork Whsky Co. Frenchy's French Toast Bourbon Whiskey Review.      West Fork Whiskey Company, based in Westfield, Indiana, where they have two sides of distilling. Side one is their in house made West Fork Whisky Co. and Old Hamer/Hugh Hamer being the second side sourced from MGP.  Overall West Fork is transparent on what they are doing, aging times, disclosure on sourcing, and even finishing. Now, for their two year anniversary of the Westfield location they decided to have some fun with a French Toast Bourbon.      Yes, you read that right, French toast. The base is a bourbon whiskey, enhanced with natural flavors to replicate the taste of French toast. Now, I am not against something flavored, but it's also not something I grab daily. They can be really great for a sweet tooth and open the door for people not big into whiskey. Now since they are creating this on their own, I knew I had to at least taste it! For the full video review ...

Rogue Spirits American Single Malt Whiskey Review.

Image
Rogue Spirits American Single Malt Whiskey Review.        I received this spirit as a review sample from Rogue Spirits. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Rogue Spirits, more known for the ale, has been distilling for nearly twenty years in Newport, Oregon. Here they are taking their knowledge in brewing ale and rolling that spirit over next door to their still.  Rogue, based in Newport, Oregon, began as a brewery in 1988 before expanding into spirits in 2003. The origins of Dead Guy Whiskey are rooted in community and creativity. Originally crafted for a local Mexican restaurant’s special event, the whiskey’s success quickly secured its place in Rogue’s permanent lineup.           T he whiskey is distilled from 100% two-row malted barley, which is the same barley used with their brewery, but with a different yeast strain to enhance its alcohol content. Rogue’s proximity t...

Tipsy Irish 5 Year Old Irish Whiskey Review.

Tipsy Irish 5 Year Old Irish Whiskey Review. I received this spirit as a review sample from Tipsy Irish. It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.      Late one night I was scrolling on instagram, as I typically do, and I ran across this bottling. Now, seeing a new Irish brand hitting the shelves, specially with an age statement caught my eye. After checking out their website I was very curious and hooked by what they creating and why they were creating it.      Tipsy Irish  unique isn’t just its blending but also the personal connection of the family behind it. The brand was founded when a daughter approached her father about starting a whiskey company. So to honor their Irish  heritage they headed out to find an Irish whiskey that fit their detailed profile.  The family took this seriously, sourcing and blending their whiskey in Ireland before bringing it stateside. Even the name, “Tipsy Irish,” has family s...

Yushan Taiwanese Blended Malt Whiskey Review.

Yushan Taiwanese Blended Malt Whiskey Review.      I received this spirit as a review sample from  CNS Wine & Spirits . It is important to clarify this did not impact the ratings of this review.     Over my whiskey journey, I have only just discovered how great Taiwanese whiskey can be. Honestly, there are some hidden gems that get overlooked constantly from the region. Now, Yushan is one of those brands that I didn't  initially  know until I reviewed their Sherry cask finished single malt. And I was a HUGE fan of that release. A quick rundown, t he Yosan whiskey lineup comes from Taiwan's NAT Distillery, known for their Omar single malt whiskies. And from what I've been told, releases some amazing whiskey. The name "Yosan" is inspired by Taiwan’s highest peak, Mount Jade. This release is their blended malt using both Ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks. Though, it can be a make or break depending on the type of sherry cask used and the timeframe of finishing.  For the full video ...

Green River Distillery Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Review.

Green River Distillery Kentucky Straight Rye   Whiskey Review.     Since Green River has been releasing their own product, i've been a fan. Both their standard bourbon and wheated bourbon are great examples in their class. So hearing their rye was hitting the shelves you could color me interested. Sticking with a classic mash bill seemed like a great path for them. Now i've been fortunate to try Green River rye from a sourced side of things (see Black Market Rye Whiskey) and this really hit the spot for me. However, I am assuming Green River is keeping the "top barrels" for themselves, which gave me very high hopes.  For the full video review visit the link here!:  https://youtu.be/yQiz2l6yIoA Age Statement:  N/A (4-6 years old per company press release). ABV:  47.5%. Mashbill:  95% Rye / 5% Malted Barley. Area of Distillation:  Kentucky. Appearance:  Light Golden. On the nose:       Right off the bat, there...

Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips, Whiskey Beer Barrel Finished Whiskey Review.

Image
Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips, Whiskey Beer Barrel Finished.      Over the past year I've been picking up so many spirits from Journeyman Distillery. Since they opened a second distillery right in Valparaiso Indiana, they are a short drive away. Honestly, I've really enjoyed so many of their offerings and they are becoming a great definition of what makes craft spirits. The other day I was up having dinner at the distillery (great food and cocktails by the way) and stopped into the gift shop as I normally do. Seeing this instantly caught my eye since I've noticed many distilleries using beer finishing casks. Not sure if that's the new thing or what, but it seems to be many of them coming out. While I've never had any beers from Half Acre Brewing, I figured I will take the dive! For the full video review visit the link here!:  https://youtu.be/033v_I65C70 Age Statement:  N/A. ABV:  54.44% (Cask Strength). Mashbill:  100% Organic Wheat. Area...
